Biking in San Vigilio and surroundings
Our mountain bike region in the Dolomites meets and surpasses every expectation. That said, in addition to daredevil mountain bike challenges – past the Fanes waterfalls and downhill on the Plan de Corones – you will also be able to enjoy easier on e-biking expeditions. Uphill, downhill and cross-country you will come across moments of happiness on your South Tyrol mountain bike holiday, which usually happen unexpectedly.
Mountain bike tours
MTB IN THE DOLOMITES
The Fanes-Sennes-Prags and Puez-Geisler nature parks offer a variety of mountain bike tours for every level of difficulty. You cycle between forests, colourful alpine meadows and breathtaking mountain panoramas. If you prefer to avoid the ascent, you can make use of the cable cars that operate in summer and start the tour directly with the spectacular mountain scenery.
E-bike tours
E-MOBILITY IN THE DOLOMITES
The enthusiasm for the e-bike has long since conquered our mountains as well! The interaction of muscle power and electric energy makes it possible for everyone to tackle longer tours and explore the breathtaking Dolomite landscape on two wheels - whether young or old, sporty or less sporty. You will find charging stations for e-bikes at numerous alpine pastures and huts.
Downhill & Freeride
ADRENALINE-PACKED DESCENTS
The Plan de Corones is a popular address for lovers of the new off-road disciplines downhill and freeride.
6 trails are available to freeriders: one easy / moderate trail, two of medium difficulty and three difficult trails. 9 trails are available to freeriders: one easy / moderate trail, two of medium difficulty and three difficult trails. The ascent always occurs via one of the cable cars in San Vigilio or on Passo Furcia. In order to easily connect all the downhill trails a free bike shuttle runs daily from St Vigilio to Passo Furcia.
Kronplatzking MTB Marathon
BIKE EVENTS
San Vigilio is also a hotspot for bike events. Every year the Kronplatzking MTB Marathon takes place - the only mountain bike marathon with 8 km of freeride descents, 9 km of single trails and a mountain finish at the summit of the Plan de Corones at 2.275 m! San Vigilio is also a stage stop of the Transalp Challenge and the Giro d'Italia.
